Shreela Gosh

Shreela Ghosh is Strategic Consultant of European Cultural Foundation. She began her working life as a performer. After re-training with BBC News, in the 1990s she made documentaries before moving into arts management and funding. As well as the Arts Council of England, she has worked for Esmée Fairbairn, one of the largest private foundations in the UK with responsibility for significant budgets and policy development. During this period Shreela launched two strategic initiatives in relation to museums and theatres and furthered the debate on cultural diversity through championing positive action schemes. Having left the foundation to pursue a more internationalist agenda Shreela joined the ECF as a Board member in 2007. She introduced ECF to Professor Stuart Hall who was her Chair at Iniva – Institute of International Visual Arts – during the launch of Rivington Place, a major new centre for the visual arts in London. In 2009 Shreela became the director of Free Word, the UK’s first Literature House which has recently been awarded a major grant worth more than £1.2 million by Arts Council England. Shreela is currently a member of the Heritage Lottery Fund’s London Committee and on the Board of DV8 Dance Theatre. She has an MA in European Cultural Policy (Warwick University) as well as a Diploma in History of Art from the University of London.
